I remember being mentally scarred by THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT when I saw it in my late teens - for a time, it was on the short list of movies that I would only watch to remind myself of why it should be the LAST movie I should be watching. As time went by, I learned and understood why the movie was made the way it was - largely due to the context of the times, especially to shock audiences who had been desensitized by television footage of Vietnam and the account of the My Lai Massacre - and have far more admiration and respect for it as the genre monument that it really is, although hearing about what Sandra Peabody really went through makes it even more disturbing to watch. Honestly, if the people at Our VOICE were to actually shoot re-enactments of domestic brutality and sexual assault for advertisements to alert the public about the need to report rape and violence of victims, I doubt that even THEY would resort to the same techniques for the sake of realism! Then again, what James Cameron put his cast through in THE ABYSS and Alfred Hitchcock with Tippi Hedren in THE BIRDS is undeniably more sadistic than mere vocal threats to get a scene right. Seriously, why is it that the majority of filmmakers who are more mainstream and non-horror far more sadistic than horror filmmakers? I've actually read and heard - and have had official confirmation - that horror filmmakers are among the world's nicest people, many at least who don't have the same cynicism, egotism and ruthless life-threatening behavior as people who choose not to do horror films. For that matter, why can't non-horror filmmakers follow horror filmmakers' examples.

I just stumbled upon this movie and gave it a quick watch and I thought this wouldn't be the best film and I would just end up clicking off it after 20 minutes, but it was a great spin on a superhero film. the film also shares a lot of similarities to Kingsman with rather young people being chosen to be in a secret organisation and save the world.
in regards to the characters i think that they were unique and good as each of them had a rather good story arch and development. Sam goes from being a rebellious princess who hates the monarchy to being a understanding mature person who wants change but wants it to be given a choice and not enforced.
the other characters had great stories as well and the film sets up a sequel at the end.
and lastly for a Disney movie this was great as it didn't shell out to the SJWs as it had a diverse set of character but they weren't there because of what nationality they were or their stance on politics.
Well done Disney and I hope that you can do better with the next installation since this was not the best but was a solid ground for a new IP and Franchise.

Stay away from this movie. This makes Emoji movie look like decent. This was not fantastic but there are a few points that are important to point out:
1) It does say it's for ages 8. A demanding 35+ year old person will definitely find this schmaltzy.
2) It focuses on being 'positive. I'm not sure why you people are so upset about the movie. They're fine.
3) They don't explain much and the characters go along with things pretty easily. I'd say they don't bother to explain because they'd rather focus on the kids bonding.
I mean, what do people expect? The box alone suggests exactly what you're getting. If you don't want painfully sweet positivity and predictability, you should've stuck to something else.
